I recently took a call from a prospective customer who was looking for a large skip bin at short notice.  It was 9:30am and they needed a big 11-metre skip bin before mid-day as the excavating equipment that was on site was only available until 1:00pm.  As the telephone call progressed it emerged that the customer had thought that they had booked a bin from a large supposedly reputable skip bin business who had a fleet of trucks.  For whatever reason, that supposed large reputable skip bin business had called up earlier to share that the skip bin would not be delivered until 3:00pm, two hours after the excavation equipment was due to leave.  Not very useful!!

Well every cloud has a silver lining.  Bins Skips Waste and Recycling responded to the call and found a partner that could deliver a big 11-metre skip bin within 2 or 3 hours.  Now that may sound like a long time, but you need to remember that the truck that was going to deliver the bin was out on the road, probably with a loaded bin that had to be emptied.  Getting to and from a landfill and then delivering more skip bins in Sydney can be a time consuming activity.

So this story just got me thinking and I suddenly realised that this was not an isolated incident.  Infact, I realised that in the last week we had two or three such stories.  The week's incidents started last Saturday  at about 1:30pm when I got a call from a customer who was looking for skip bins in Brisbane to be delivered, preferably that afternoon.  So not having very high expectations, I shared with the customer that it wasn't likely that a bin could be delivered after mid-day on a Saturday.  Anyway, the customer was keen so I said I would see what could be done.  Well much to my surprise when I called one of my Brisbane partners they answered the phone!  Not only that they were OK to deliver a skip bin that afternoon.  Another happy customer I hope...

My last story has a funny side because we had taken an order for a skip bin in Brisbane and when it was delivered
 it turned out that it was in the wrong suburb.  The skip wasn't needed for Brisbane, it was actually needed for Perth! Not much difference really.  This is what you call country wide service, coast to coast skip bins.  So with out further ado we got onto organising a 12-metre skip bin in Perth.  Good job it was only Friday afternoon in Brisbane, and mid-day in Perth.  After a couple of calls we had organised the skip bin for Perth and we thought the job was done.

Ha, ha, just when you think you have it covered, the unexpected happens.  Good old Murphy.  Yes on Saturday just after mid-day I get a call from a man in Perth who shares that he is at the house where the 12-metre skip bin is.  He has managed to fill the bin by 10:30am and he would like another one.  Huh just the opportunity I needed on Saturday lunch time.  Yes some more calls to follow and much to my surprise we organised another 12-metre skip bin.  I would say at the drop of a hat, but it wasn't and it took some organising.  I am sure the customer appreciated it and that I will get more rewards later.
